Furniture.

The first piece I made in this collection is the red table. I wanted to spend time working on small details of my porcelain work and use underglaze to paint intricate designs. As the idea for these pieces evolved, I was inspired by the question of what makes a home. I wanted to display the idea of an interior landscape– something that shows a room as it feels and not how it looks, something lived in. The uneven texture and mismatched colors of these pieces represent not only the lack of perfection in every household environment, but also the value and lesson of every flaw. Home can sometimes be fragile, but it’s the place where you can unwind, relax, and express yourself in any way you want. That's what home is to me, which is also the feeling that working on ceramics gives me. In my busy, stressful days, my haven is the ceramic studio where I can step back from everyday pressures and immerse myself in the world my hands are molding.
